CDM
The standard for carbon offsets used by the Clean Development Mechanism . Its support comes from UNFCCC parties. The CDM promises developmental co-benefits to the nations in which its offsets are generated, but some critics question whether the promised gains have appeared. This standard requires third-party verification and separates the verification and approval processes. It allows all project types except REDD, nuclear energy, and HFC destruction from new facilities and does not exclude some project types with a high probability of adverse impacts.
